Finally, after many years, I get to see snow again. Two years ago I went to Chile for the winter conference. We went to the mountains and there was snow, but it wasn't snowing. So I experienced what is walking on the snow and the cold, but I didn't see the snowflakes falling from the sky.

I read an article in a magazine that all the snowflakes are alike. There aren't two snowflakes that have the same shape. So one of the first things I did was to watch carefully the snow flakes. Unfortunately, my eyes aren't that good. I recognized some differences but at the same time, there were some others that seemed to have the same shape. But I'll trust science.

Another thing I read is that the shape of the snowflakes can be described mathematically by fractals. Indeed they are fractals. I would love to have a microscopic view to see each detail, but as far as I could see with my not very good eyes, snow flakes are amazing, and they are just as described in my math books.

It's nice to see snow again!!!
